The story behind our logo and its mini makeover!...
CMYKat was one of the first designs I created for my shop. I adore cats and for those who don't know, this was a play on CMYK/four-color printing: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key (Black).
Honestly, back when I was launching my online shop, I spent far more time creating art and designs than thinking about my own logo - even though as a graphic designer as well, I know how important branding is! But I was ready to launch and get going, so I created a few variations using CMYKat and my "LisetteArt/LR" insignia (which I’d been using in some form for years). Even though it wasn't perfect, I settled on one design. It was good enough to launch, and I used this logo for a couple of years.
Since I was never really satisfied with it, I revamped my logo a couple of years later. I kept CMYKat, but added a cow, of course - a nod to my love for cows and my belief in caring for all animals, who often appear in my work. I also added a rainbow inspired by my love of colors and my 80's kid roots. I tweaked my insignia, made it more central to the design (why was SHOP so big in the first place 😅), and moved "SHOP" into a little banner, making the logo more versatile to work with or without the banner for my design consulting work.
Fast forward to recently when I got the itch to make a few updates while keeping the core design. I refreshed the rainbow with a color variation I often use in my work, added some munchies for the cow, and turned CMYKat into a black & white kitty (partly inspired by my Moomoo!). I also added a pomegranate for the cat to hold, symbolizing the Judaica that has grown to become a more central part of my work in recent years.
And here we are! I try to use up my existing printed materials before reordering, so you’ll still see the previous logo on business cards and packaging for a bit, but I hope you love the updated version as much as I do. ✨
